| Chapter 5 – She is not my mum Continued- Page 104 - 111 She asked her son about Magma's information and location but he said he forgot it, fortunately, she was unable to steal Mamoru's whistle. He called Gamu to investigate “her”, Gamu told him that she may be a human copy, or Ningen Modoki, and relayed to his friend what he saw at the island. At that time, she was reading Murakami's diary to get some Magma's details (which Mamoru told his father earlier), Gamu appeared while she was reporting to a superior somewhere. Since Gamu looks similar Mamoru, she didn't recognize him , and he wanted to test to see if she was real human or Ningen Modoki, and, as he suspected, she changed into original face – an alien monster! Gamu didn't want to use a laser in the room, so the monster was able to escape with the diary . A space ship was waiting outside and the Rocket Boy used his laser to try and stop it…….. Page 112 – 119 The space ship attacked Gamu, as the monster tried to get inside but was extinguished by a blast from a laser originating from Magma, The Rocket Man! Gamu Told Magma about the diary, he knew the enemy wanted to know their base of operation. Although The Space Avenger destroyed the space ship it had released a magnetic membrane to cover The Golden Giant, who fell from great height, an was injured upon crashing to earth. Gamu explained that Magma was hurt by magnetic waves, liked human “Brain vibration”. After the smoke stopped, Magma needed to be covered by soil, because he and his family were made of mineral substance, so this will enable him will resume normal activity within a short period. Mamoru thought to himself, Magma’s family was incredible. Then they found a part of the monster, Gamu guessed it was a space creature that can change into any object. Back in his ship, Goa was angry because Magma destroyed his plan again! Chapter 6 – “Goa’s secret weapon” Page 122 - 128 Goa came from 20 billion light-years away, and just wanted to capture this planet, but he also collected the best warriors from many galaxies, they were Koidamarine, Zorori & Daba. Goa ordered them to destroy Magma, then find the secret base of Earth. They each thought of themselves as the most powerful of the trio, and they separated heading to earth for action. Daba will responsible for the dessert, Zorori was ocean and Koidamarine was land. Zorori tried to search for Magma, but found a hollow land mass which looked liked a volcano, he realized this could be Earth’s secret base and entered only to be confronted by Mol! Page 129 - 138 Zorori defeated Mol and asked her lead him into the station. He explained to Mol, if he can achieve the goal, Goa will let him become the handsomest one on his planet. When Zorori forced entry to a secret room, The wizard Earth stopped it, he wanted to catch the wizard, but was defeated by Earth, who knew all about Zorori, to the creature's surprise. The wizard told him he would send him back to his planet with a frog face, which angered him so he lashed out to kill Earth, but instead, was killed by the wizards superior powers, being burned into a pile of excrement soil. After that, the old wizard asked Mol to go to the aid of Magma, and put a small device on the rocket man's ear to help him by speeding his recovery. Page 139 – 145 Elsewhere, Koidamarine spread many roots into the ground and captured the golden giant, Magma, who had tracked his location. Mamoru detected the danger and called Gamu to save The Space Avenger. Mamoru thought Koidamarine was like a kind of plant, and thought herbicides can destroy it, so he borrowed herbicides from a neighbor, Mamoru saved his giant golden ally . Koidamarine sent a message to his alien cohorts before he died. Mol arrived and put the little machine on her husband's ear. Soon he woke up and was aware of everything. The Rocket Man decided to go to worldwide dessert to find Daba…….. Page 146 – 157 Daba found a Military installation at dessert, and destroyed it! Soon the Space Avenger arrived ready for battle!! Daba's power caused the sand to become magnetic and cover the rocket man, he also he created some “sandman” to attack Magma. He used chains and caught all the enemies, rocketing at great speed into sky, which flushed clean away the sand out of Magma's body, and also destroyed his alien adversary, so The Space Avenger threw it's body on the dessert. Chapter 7 – “False city” Page 160 - 167 Murakami enquired to the editor about the news at TV station, but he found all the staffs were acting strange. When he discovered many of his co-workers bodies inside a boiler room, the staffs human copies suddenly appeared and wanted to kill Murakami…. He realized the original staff were killed by the copies, 25% citizens in Tokyo were now Ningen Modoki! Murakami departed from company and found some strange police, who he also suspected were copies...so he jumped into an underground drainage system to avoid capture. Page 168 - 176 Murakami defeated many copies, one person appeared, introduced himself was a real human, Murakami didn't believe him, shocking him with electricity. He came upon a group of real humans that were assembled inside a church, Doctor Charm, introduced Murakami to the group. They discussed how to stop Goa’s plan, Murakami told them about the human copies, known as Ningen Modoki, and they tried to discover the weak point of the Ningen Modoki. Another doctor said he met a strange child before he arrived at the church, and there was one kind of parasitism mushroom found on the child’s body. Doctor Charm thought the mushroom must wrest the nutrition of the copies, it may be the weak point of them. At that time, Goa’s space ship appeared again…….. Page 177 - 181 Tokyo's “citizens” welcome Goa, who wanted to establish a headquarter at Tokyo council. Goa was pleased at the fact that 75% of the human population were his Ningen Modoki copies. He noticed his space ship was burning as if by Magma's “air convex lens”, Goa tried to find Magma, but many rocks were falling around him. The biggest one crashed in front of the council building, and was marked “Get out! Goa! LEAVE THE PLANET! The one who would destroy planet will become extinct signed- The Wizard Earth”. SO Goa knew the wizard was watching “him”……. Page 182 - 190 Mamoru was searching for his father. As he left train station, a man asked him who is the ruler of Tokyo, Mamoru said ‘Everyone should know that, right?’ But the man replied ‘No….’. The man was a Ningen Modoki, so while reporting to supervisor, Mamoru extinguished him! Many other Ningen Modoki wanted to kill him but failed. He thought maybe Murakami stayed at his office, so he went to where his father worked and inquired, but was locked in by the staff! The Ningen Modoki told Mamoru his father had ran away, the alien duplicates prepared Mamoru’s own copy in an attempt to attract Murakami! He signaled Gamu for help and the Rocket Boy came to his young friends rescue, dispatching the copies, then they departed from the building, only to find a thick layer of fog had covered the city, it could prevent the remaining humans from departing from ther. Page 191 - 198 Gamu handed Mamoru something, has he explained that his father, The Space Avenger, had asked Gamu give this new weapon to Mamoru, because this it will be better suited for destroying the space creatures . They came upon 2 of Goa's space monsters, which were patroling in the fog. One of the pair discovered the boys, but, Mamoru used the new weapon and killed him, discovering the creature continued to move even after the neck was separated from the body! They ran into a building but found no one inside. The adventurous duo had stumbled into the ‘Empire restaurant’, an exclusive restaurant. Suddenly the stillness was broken as they could hear some one approaching...... Chapter 8 – Wonderful guests inside Empire restaurant Page 200 - 207 A fierce and powerful robot. After a short battle, Gamu destroyed it. They thought the robot must be protecting something of great value, so they went to the next level and found many monsters!! All the monsters changed form and revealed they were really the children from the other planets, which were destroyed by Goa! They explained to the duo, Goa liked to collect children from the destroyed planets. Mamoru & Gamu, asked them why don’t run away? They told of how their planets were gone, and that Goa really loved them, taking great care of them, feeding them well, then Gamu remembered Goa told him of his love of children, maybe this is his greatest weak point?? They could hear Goa's Ship approach... Page 208 - 215 The evil Space Devil was back! They immediately hid to avoid detection. He brought some fresh fruit to the children, and seeing the robot was destroyed, Goa asked one if they had met the human child and his friend, and he responded no. Still, Goa suspected Mamoru was most likely hiding somewhere….. so he brought out a hostage – Murakami!! He wanted to make Mamoru appear from his hiding place, so he tortured the boy's father. Mamoru wanted to go to his fathers aid, Gamu tried to restrain him, but eventually, Mamoru could no longer stand the screaming of his father and ran from hiding as GAMU remained hidden. Mamoru realized his mistake as this Murakami was revealed to be a Ningen Modoki. The Rocket Boy tried to save his young friend but Goa defeated the them both and went on to explain his love for children....he LOVES to EAT them!! Mamoru asked Goa where his mother was, the evil one promised he would will tell, but Mamoru must first reveal the whereabouts of the wizard Earth!!!! To be continued |

| Chapter 1 – Start without laugh Page 8 – 15 One day, Murakami, a reporter, and his son Mamoru found their house was moved to a strange place, the clock stopped at 8:00 a.m. They left the house to search the area, and found a dead dinosaur body still fresh. Murakami realizes they were sent back in time two hundred million years. Suddenly another dinosaur attacks the pair but a space ship came to thier rescue and destroyed the creature before it could cause them harm. Father and son went inside the house to regain thier composure. Page 16 - 24 Murakami explained to his wife and son, 3 days earlier, he received a call from a stranger, who claimed he was a subordinate of someone named Goa, then explained to Murakami that he, along with 2000 worldwide reporters will be sent to a rare and strange place in 3 days, at 8:00 a.m., The reporters must show the world what they see via newspaper and other media. Murakami wanted to locate the caller but he destroyed himself after the call. While they wondered where the other reporters were, the figure of Goa appeared, ordering Murakami to write what he saw in the newspaper, at the end of article, he must include:"Goa will be the ruler of the planet very soon”. Mamoru took a photo of the enigmatic being at the same time. After Goa left, the clock moved again and they returned to normal time period. Later, Mamoru told his friends of this experience, but no one believed him, so he decided to print the photo of Goa to support his story, but his mother prohibited him, and at that instant, a thunderous sound like the roar of engines sent him outside to investigate. Chapter 2 – Hero appears Page 26 - 33 A huge golden giant, who introduced himself as Magma, appeared outside of Mamoru's family home. The towering golden giant asked to borrow Goa’s photo, but Mamoru refused to give it up. So Magma carefully took the camera, and turned into a golden rocket so he could leave, but Mamoru caught Magma's fin and held tight, accompanying the golden rocket as it soared across the sky , over the ocean and into a volcano, where he met Magma’s wife, Mol, who brought him to meet their creator, an old wise man, named Earth. Page 34 – 41 The old man copied the film from Mamoru's camera, and projected Goa's image for all to see. He told Magma to remember Goa’s face, then explained that Goa was not a human being, but a space monster. The wise one didn't know where he came from, but he knew Goa had immense power, and had destroyed many planets, then became their ruler, now the target was THIS planet. So Earth made powerful Magma to stop Goa. He asked Momoru to inform the planets human beings, they must fight together against Goa but Mamoru worried that the humans would not work together. Magma asked Earth make a child like Mamoru because he and his wife had developed an affection for their new friend. The wizard copied Mamoru and started to make a child for the mighty Magma and his wife. While Mol served Mamoru lunch, the golden giant explained to the youngster, that the wizard Earth was greater than any scientist or human, and he made Magma & his wife – 2 “Rocket men”, but not robots, a living rocket, and displayed his powers before the amazed child, as he explained their weapons could only operate in defense of the planet. By that time, Earth had completed creating the child of Magma, who's wife named him Gamu. He looked extremely like Mamoru……from who's likeness he was created in the image of. Page 42 – 46 Then, Gamu changed into rocket and carried Mamoru to the Japan National Defense Department with Magma & Mol. There, Murakami was trying to discuss the pending disaster with worldwide leaders, but each leader wanted the leaders of other countries to follow them. Murakami wanted them to work close together but was getting nowhere in his efforts to unite the nations. When Momamoru & Magma’s family arrived, they gave Mamoru a special ultrasonic whistle, so they could contact the rocket family, explaining he should blow it one time for Gamu, two was Mol and three was the signal for Magma. Chapter 3 – Terrible dreams become true Page 48 - 56 Goa’s space ship arrived and started to destroy the city, Murakami asked his wife and son to move to another town, and stay with their grandmother. The space devil caused much destruction, collapsing buildings, creating fires, earthquakes, causing crowds of people to panic! Mamoru was separated from his mother, while Goa announced to the citizens, he would destroy Japan first! Mamoru used the whistle to call Gamu to fight with Goa, but Gamu didn't because the fight would cause many people injury, so Mamoru asked instead that Gamu carry him to search for his mother, and off they went looking for his mother but instead they found…… Page 57 – 61 Goa!! The evil alien decided to build a palace at Tokyo, because he loved Japan, finding it to be one of the planets most beautiful country sides. The young pair tried to defeat Goa but lost to the space devil's power. Gamu reverted back to his "human" form. Goa was intrigued by Gamu, wanting to dissect him to find the secret of his workings. Mamoru called Magma for help…… Page 62 - 67 Magma's arrival surprised Goa, telling him, he was a rocket man created to stop Goa’s destruction and protect the planet. Magma also revealed that the old man Earth knows that Goa’s original form was an ugly monster who changed into human disguise just for this planet. Goa was angered and wanted to destroy Magma, using his spacecraft to crush the golden giant. Mamoru told Goa the people of Japan will not obey him or allow him to be the ruler of the planet! Magma escaped the constraint of space ship, and rotated the air creating an air convex lens which concentrated the sunshine to burn Goa! Page 68 – 72 Goa left in his craft to avoid defeat. Magma knew his adversary was powerful, and he needed to report to the wizard to devise a war plan, so he carried Mamoru to find his father, who was worried about Goa’s following action. Earth thought Goa must have a weak point, Since Magma & Mol were larger beings, and Gamu , smaller child, Earth asked him to try to find a place which Goa disliked, and off he went to do so! Chapter 4 – Human copy Page 74 - 83 Gamu followed the small space ship to an island, where he found strange plants, trees and …people. He asked one person about Goa but the man avoided the question. Without warning, the crowd wanted to catch Gamu, so he hid underground and stayed until nightfall. Gamu back on the surface, found many bodies that looked like human, and heard from 2 unknown beings, according to Goa’s order, they must produce 1000 more human copies, which they called Ningen Modoki, then after training them, send the psuedo-beings worldwide to stay at different countries, so they can capture all the countries with the least effort! He defeated the 2 beings, and compelled one of them to help him find Goa…… Page 84 – 91 Gamu fell prey to a trap and was captured! Although Goa loves children, he wanted to melt the rocket boy down because he knew too much, he told Gamu, Japan will also have human copies that will outnumber real humans worldwide in the near future, he also knew Gamu's father will try to rescue him, and he wanted to defeat Magma this time! When Magma arrived to save his son, Goa reminded him that he wanted to meet Earth! Magma engaged Goa in combat again! Goa revealed a powerful skill, he had used before to destroy another planet, this time resulting in many burning meteoric stones falling from Venus on to the golden rocket-man and his son!! Page 92 – 96 Gamu felt extremely hot but Magma asked him to wait until their bodies were thoroughly heated. They rocketed from beneath the stones and landed on Goa’s space ship, using the intense heat to melt the subordinates of Goa, which also made the space devil change back to his original form– a monster that resembles a dinosaur! Goa lost the control and power due to this transformation to his real form, and was afraid others would know, so he instantly disappeared with the space ship. The Space Avenger explained to Mamoru, Goa most likely used “The fourth dimensions Jumping skill”, so he and his horde can disappear suddenly. Later Mamoru's mother arrived at the grandmother’s home, to his surprise, he found that “mother” lost the mole on her neck, and he felt strange. Chapter 5 – She is not my mum Page 98 - 103 Mamoru suspected “she” was not his mom, but he cannot verify. He watched TV to find out Tokyo’s situation, because even though the space ship was gone, 25% of the city have been destroyed, and the government was re-building the city immediately. He realized that when introducing Goa, the reporter said that Goa was the best food made by Murakami’s company. Murakami decided to go back Tokyo to investigate, he asked Mamoru to stay with his mother. Mamoru told Murakami she was not his mom, but he didn’t believe his son. During the dinner, Mamoru's mother said the grandmother will stay at the next house……… Continued--- |
| A Note From Powerslam This abridged translation is from the Chinese edition of Osamu Tezuka's Ambassador Magma Volume 1 (of 3), painstakingly done by Powerslam's man in Hong Kong , Superman fan #1, Billy Tang, and adapted for English readers by PD Angel Gabriele, exclusively for the loyal Powerslam fans, as a part of the Powerslam Collectibles website's 1 year birthday celebration! As with most adaptation from comic to film, the live action 1966 TV series kept many key elements, but much of the under story and violence was omitted, and even further lost when brought to America and released as The Space Giants. In the weeks to follow, we'll be presenting Volumes 2 and 3 which includes the battle of the giants, when Magma faces off with another Tezuka creation, The Devil Garon/Black Gallon. Hope you enjoy. |
